| The sultan had been worried about the threat posed to
Oman long before the attack on Habrut on the 5th of May. In February he had raised his concerns and considered the need for either Interceptor Aircraft and/or an Air Defence system |
| The British Ambassador, Mr Hawley, had called on the Sultan and reported back to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office |

| A few days later there was a further move on the part of the PDRY which caused some anxiety |
