The Haloxaire was a simple
anaesthetic machine which allowed either positive pressure ventilation
or spontaneous respiration to be used.
The perspex turret in the forground contained a series of mica discs
which controlled the airflow to and from the patient.
The Oxford bellows on the right could be used to ventilate the patient.
The flowmeter in the centre controlled any additional oxygen input
whilst the Wright flowmeter at the back on the right measured the volume
of expired gases.
A simple halothane vapouriser can be seen at the back left which
controlled the amount of anaesthetic agent delivered to the patient.
One corrugated tube takes gases to the patient and the other removes the
expired gases. |
